Behind the Threads: The Journey of the Name Kusvaa

2 min read

Kusvaa is not a word you will find in a dictionary. It is a name made from the people and the passion behind it — and every part of it means something.

KUS — Kusum

Kusum is Anamika’s mother: the nurturing force behind her journey. She was always involved in environmental causes and cherished local art, and much of Kusvaa’s inspiration — the love of Indian craft and the care for how things are made — comes from her.

VA — Vastra

Vastra means clothing. It is the essence of our passion: India’s textiles, and the art and hands behind them.

A — Anamika

The final A is Anamika — “me, still dreaming and creating”. With a background in strategic business management, she set out in 2015 to bring India’s rich textile heritage together into one place, and make it simple and joyful to shop.

The lotus

Our emblem is the lotus, India’s national flower — rooted in the earth, blooming clean and open. It stands for what we hope to be: rooted in Indian craft, and transparent in how we work.

Transparency, always

At Kusvaa, transparency is key. We want you to know about the craft, the fabric and the care behind every piece, so you can choose with confidence — and keep it for years.
